DuPont Internal Communications & Change Management Strategy

As a partner on the ICF Next team, I developed the internal communications strategy for DuPont’s Operational Excellence program rollout, a major operational transformation and change management initiative. I facilitated stakeholder input across DuPont’s global operations to understand current perceptions, identify opportunities and flag potential barriers. I then developed an audience segmentation framework that identified core groups, influencers, connectors and leaders that could assist with socializing program communications and supporting implementation.

Based on these findings, I developed a comprehensive messaging framework tailored to each audience, including themes, core narratives, supporting messages and proof points. I then crafted a detailed launch plan that outlined the goals, actions, channels, target audiences and timelines to help leaders share a clear, consistent narrative.

As a result, DuPont successfully launched the change management program, built awareness and engagement, gained employee buy-in, reinforced and championed the program during implementation and invested in continuing education and skills development to train teams on the new systems. The internal communications strategy allowed the company to proactively communicate new operational changes and keep employees informed, aligned and engaged along the way.
