Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes

At Avalanche Consulting, I worked on a quality of life measurement tool for The Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes to better understand the overall well-being of the region, assessing topics like economic mobility, education, environment, quality of life, equity and civic engagement. My role included facilitating stakeholder input, developing a community survey and drafting community narratives. These narratives — based on in-depth data analysis, community survey findings, conversations with stakeholders and knowledge of national and global trends — provided insight into the region’s strengths and areas of greatest need. Each narrative included clear messages and proof points that could be used in foundation communications. Most importantly, it illuminated where investment of time and resources could catalyze the greatest change, allowing the foundation to direct grant funding to high-impact causes.
