Moody Foundation

At Avalanche Consulting, I helped The Moody Foundation identify strategic investments with the potential to transform Galveston’s economy. I conducted a thorough evaluation of existing studies, reviewed economic and demographic data and conducted stakeholder input. A discovery report included quantitative and qualitative research findings, a SWOT analysis and strategic themes related to education, workforce development, housing, infrastructure, quality of place and heritage.

This formed the foundation for the strategic plan, ‘Generation Moody,’ which concentrated on the topic of education. The strategy included recommendations to launch and expand cradle-to-career education initiatives that created learning opportunities for all Galveston residents at every stage of life, resulting in a generational shift in educational achievement.

Since its launch in in 2018, Generation Moody has distributed grants totaling more than $55 million. It has made investments that reduced the digital divide, created summer and after-school programs and prepared students for careers and post-secondary education. As a result, The Moody Foundation has positively impacted literacy rates, high school and college graduation rates and career readiness in Galveston.
